Cake Decorating

I have enrolled in Cake Decorating 101. After watching Ace of Cakes, I decided it was time to try my hand at cake decorating. After 4 classes, I have decided this is not my calling. My biggest challenge was getting the right consistency for the icing. Thank you Deena for your patience and guidance in the process!

  1. Beautiful and delicious! I see it this way. Cake decorating is like a boat. I'd rather have a friend with a boat than have a boat. Get it? Wanna do Dad's birthday cake for me next month?

  2. Sounds like a group project to me.

  3. I feel your pain! I can't pipe icing (or anything for that matter) to save my soul. I desperately want to, but I just have no control or aptitude for it that I can tell. I've thought about classes, but I'm afraid I will waste my money trying to learn something that I'm pretty sure I can't master.

  4. Susan-

Whether or not you enjoy the decorating, this cake sure is pretty!!! What kind of cake is under all the decoration?

  5. Haley Suzanne, I understand your feeling but you should give it a try.

Bobbi, it is a cake mix, minus the oil. That seems to be the way cake decorators make their cakes. I think they are more concerned about the appearance than the taste.
